Building a Stronger, Safer, Kinder Community—Together

Be Healthy Mesa is a City of Mesa public health prevention initiative, in partnership with The Be Kind People Project (BKPP), helping students, families, and educators recognize the risks of opioids and counterfeit pills, strengthen mental wellness, and take action through education, kindness, and prevention.

Our Purpose

This initiative is built on positive, age-appropriate, anti-stigma messaging that supports informed decision-making and emotional resilience across youth, families, schools, and the community.

Why This Matters

Why Be Healthy Mesa Exists

The drug landscape has changed. Counterfeit pills can look identical to authentic prescription medications, but may contain fentanyl or other dangerous substances. These pills are being sold online, through social media, and in communities across the country.

What every family should know:

  • You cannot tell if a pill is fake by looking at it
  • “One pill” can be life-threatening
  • Talking early and often helps protect youth
  • Naloxone can save a life during an opioid overdose emergency
